Easy Bakin' Cowgirl

For three years, my daughter has been asking to go to PFI. If you have known me for more than five minutes, you know how hilarious that is. I have never stepped foot inside of that store, other than that one time our Cross Country team hid in there on one of our weekly Friday fake-out runs (other favorite Friday runs included sneaking into Dickenson 8 Theatre or the Deerfield Hotel for a little continental breakfast).

She has seen the animated, lit-up horses on there for years and I finally caved and took her yesterday. My "I-am-saving-for-a-car-when-I-turn-sixteen" little girl who has more money in her savings account than I do, usually will not spend a dime of her own money. When we are out shopping and I say "you've got your own money, you can buy that" she usually responds with "no way, I don't need that." The girl has saved every penny of the $50 she won at the Superbowl Party of 2004. Combine that with birthday, Christmas, and tooth fairy money over seven years and she was sitting pretty. Well, yesterday... she went a little crazy at the PFI. As Aunt Julie said, "she blew her wad". We ended up with a cowgirl hat, a tiara to go on the cowgirl hat, a giant belt buckle (with rhinestones) that says "Cowgirls Rule" which we consequently had to buy a belt for (also with rhinestones), AND a shirt.

Her Grandpa Ross will be proud. Good thing we live in Rogersville. Giddyup.

Here she is baking her first Easy Bake Oven cookie. Gene & I have joked about the seven dollar cookies it would make (the mix is seriously $6.99 and it makes 2 cookies), but it was delicious. Like a cake-cookie combo. I don't know if she was more proud of her hat or the cookie.
