So Luker is done with jars of baby food. Not only will he scrunch up his face and not eat it, he will actually start pouting and grunting if he sees a jar. He wants whatever we are having and I am giving it to him, a lesson I am finding in feeding ALL of us more healthy food.
This is my Grandpa's baby plate from the 1930's. It is a little weird feeding my baby out of my Grandpa's plate since we live in (what used to be) Grandpa's house. I am channeling the strength of my Great-Grandmother who fed her baby out of this plate during the Great Depression. Just looking at it reminds me of how good we have it here in 2010 and immediately instills gratitude that I don't have to save all of those glass baby food jars. The little blue knob screws off and you can fill it with hot water to keep your baby's food hot, how cool is that?
Our summer has been off to a slow start. I didn't realize how many projects around the house I have been "saving for summer". Whoah, Nellie, we had some work to do those first few weeks out of school. We are finally slipping back into a routine and I'm wondering how I'm going to make it when school starts again! I checked this book out from the library and it has really stream-lined a lot of things around here:

I have been on this chick's website before, but the book is way better. It tells the story of a woman who was so disorganized that when she had to call the cops one time when her house was broken into, the cops apologized for the huge mess the robber had made in her upstairs extra guest room. She was too embarrassed to admit that the mess was there before the robber broke in. That was a turning point for her and she began her quest to become an efficient Home Manager. She is a little OCD, which I like, but about the only thing I can't handle from this book is that she actually suggests putting "check your to-do list" ON the to-do list. Everything else in here is great. Gene said "I don't know what's in that book, but I LOVE it." I have been cleaning things I didn't know could come clean. Hallelujah that I read this book before Luke starts crawling.
We have disinfected the house twice since the Douglas Family e-coli outbreak of 2010... we ate a bag of "pre-washed" Cesar salad. There weren't enough toilets. There is nothing like puking in the bathtub while another family member is puking in the toilet for some family bonding.
When I'm not obsessing over the state of the house, we are trying to do fun summer-like things...
The kids made a big red X and a red button and have been playing "America's Got Talent".

That's all for now, I need to go mark some things off of my new summer "to-do list".
